This document explains how to make EPS from Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Illustrator.
First, make an image with PowerPoint. Don't make any text. Click the right button on the image you want to save and export the image into WMF.
Open the WMF with Illustrator. Sometimes, color-filled rectangle can't open with Illustrator. In such case, empty the rectangle and export to WMF and open with Illustrator and fill it in Illustrator.
Images are grouped, so, relieve the grouping if you want. Add text if you want. Save the image as EPS.
Note that you should not add a preview image into EPS. TeX hates the EPS with preview.
For font problem, embed the font into EPS, or apply outline procedure to the text.
Here, I will explain another way. First, make an image with PowerPoint or other softwares. Print out the image with PostScript printer such as "Apple LaserWriter II NTX-J" or "MINOLTA-QMS magicolor 2200" or whatever. When you print the image, please check "print as file". This produces the PS file.
Open the PS with Illustrator. Sometimes, font will change. Sometimes, gradation or translucent produces clumsy data. In such case, empty the rectangle and export to PS and open with Illustrator and fill it in Illustrator.

You can use the PS file you first created as the EPS file.
